Activities
Writing Program
The Write on Sports summer camp creates an opportunity for students to discover their voice and confidently write about their interests and points of view. We use sports as the theme as a way to connect with students in an authentic and meaningful way.
Projects
Students pick a theme of their choice (related to sports) and identify a project:
- Feature story
- Fiction story
- Video
- Podcast
Mentorship
Receive support and feedback on their chosen projects during scheduled small group or one-on-one meetings.
Guest Day
Participate in “Guest Day”, when guest athletes and journalists join in to speak about their profession and allow students to interview them directly, further developing their literacy and writing skills.
Showcase
Students present their final projects on the last day of camp to their peers, family, and friends. Their work is also shared online for a wider audience.
